How do you get to the beach at Zandvoort by train?
From Amsterdam Centraal the train runs direct to Zandvoort aan Zee station in about half an hour. From the station, walk to the promenade and then head south. NIUS Beach House, at beach access 5, is just over a kilometre further on: about a twenty-minute walk.

What time does the sun set in Zandvoort?
In Zandvoort the sun sets at around ten in the evening in June and at around half past four in the afternoon in December. Because the beach faces west, you can watch the sun sink into the sea all year round. The table below gives the time for each month.

Kitesurfing in Zandvoort: the spot and the best wind
In Zandvoort you can go kitesurfing from, among other places, the kite zone at Watersportvereniging Zandvoort, the local water sports club, on the south beach about 500 metres from NIUS Beach House. It works best with wind off the sea, from south-west through west to north. From 15 April to 1 October you may only kite from the designated zones.

Yes, there is a sauna on the beach in Zandvoort. Billies Beach Sauna is at NIUS Beach House by beach access 5 from 16 September to 30 April. A session lasts 90 minutes and the North Sea is your cold plunge. You book with Billies.

Where can you eat in Zandvoort as the sun sinks into the sea?
At NIUS Beach House on the south beach of Zandvoort you can watch the sun sink into the sea from your table, all year round. From 9 November to mid-January the sun sets before 17:00, so you’ll see it over a late lunch or drinks. From 17 January sunset falls during dinner, which starts at 17:00.

Where can you go for a bracing walk in Zandvoort in winter?
The best place for a bracing walk in Zandvoort is the south beach. Walk south from beach access 5: that’s where the promenade ends and there’s nothing but beach and dunes. Walk into the wind first, so you have it at your back on the way home. Afterwards you can warm up at NIUS Beach House, which is open every day.

At NIUS Beach House on the south beach of Zandvoort you can sit by the open fire in winter, in NIUS Noord or NIUS Zuid, surrounded by glass and with a view of the sea. NIUS is open every day all year round from 9:00 to 22:00, for coffee, soup, lunch, drinks and dinner.

In bad weather in Zandvoort you can watch the sea from behind glass, for example by the open fire at NIUS Beach House on the south beach, open every day from 9:00 to 22:00. In the colder half of the year there’s a sauna on the beach, and in the village there’s the Zandvoorts Museum. If there’s a dry spell, head out for a bracing walk.

NIUS Beach House on the south beach of Zandvoort is open on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, from 9:00 to 17:00. You can have breakfast, lunch and drinks by the open fire, with a view of the sea. You can book, but you’re also welcome to drop in.
