In short. NIUS Beach House on the south beach of Zandvoort is open on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, from 9:00 to 17:00. You can have breakfast, lunch and drinks by the open fire, with a view of the sea. You can book, but you’re also welcome to drop in.
Open on public holidays
Most beach bars in Zandvoort are closed in winter. NIUS Beach House stays put all year round and is open on public holidays too, with shorter hours:
- Christmas Day (Friday 25 December 2026): 9:00 to 17:00
- Boxing Day (Saturday 26 December 2026): 9:00 to 17:00
- New Year’s Day (Friday 1 January 2027): 9:00 to 17:00

What you can eat and drink
There’s no Christmas menu and no brunch. You come for what NIUS does every day: breakfast, a long lunch or drinks with something to nibble. The open fire burns in NIUS Noord and Zuid, and you’re surrounded by glass with a view of the sea. There’s no dinner on public holidays, because NIUS closes at 17:00.

Around Christmas, sunset in Zandvoort is close to its earliest of the year. On Christmas Day the sun sets at 16:32, on New Year’s Day at 16:39. Stay on after lunch and you’ll watch it sink into the sea from your table.

Get outside first
Many people combine Christmas by the sea with a walk along the empty beach. And from 16 September to 30 April, Billies Sauna is also on the beach by NIUS; you book with Billies.
NIUS is on the south beach, on Boulevard Paulus Loot, at beach access 5. You can park at Parkeerterrein De Zuid, less than three minutes’ walk away.
