In short. At NIUS Beach House on the south beach of Zandvoort you can watch the sun sink into the sea from your table, all year round. From 9 November to mid-January the sun sets before 17:00, so you’ll see it over a late lunch or drinks. From 17 January sunset falls during dinner, which starts at 17:00.

The beach at Zandvoort faces west. That’s why, all year round, the sun sinks into the sea and not behind the dunes. At NIUS Beach House you’re surrounded by glass, so you can watch it from your table, even when it’s cold outside.
Lunch, drinks or dinner: month by month
NIUS serves lunch until 16:00, drinks all day and dinner from 17:00. This is when sunset falls in winter:
- Until 8 November (1 November: 17:13): during dinner.
- 9 November to 17 January (15 November: 16:49, 15 December: 16:28, 1 January: 16:39): before dinner. Come for a late lunch or drinks.
- From 17 January (1 February: 17:28, 15 February: 17:54): during dinner.
- March (1 March: 18:20, 15 March: 18:45): well after dinner has started.

What to eat with it
The dinner menu includes mussels in yellow curry, a Steak ‘Café de Paris’ and the Roasted Masala Cauliflower. At drinks time there are bites, glühwein and Winter Sangria. You’ll find everything on the menu.
How to get a good seat
Book so that you’re at your table about half an hour before sunset; that way you also catch the light leading up to it. You can book online, and you’re always welcome to drop in. On public holidays NIUS is open until 17:00, so around Christmas you’ll catch the sunset at lunch or over drinks.
